As the planned nationwide protest against bad governance approaches, Otunba Taiwo Oyebanjo, President of the Iperu Development Association, has issued an open letter to the youths of Iperu, urging them to exercise wisdom and restraint.
In the letter, Oyebanjo acknowledges the frustrations with the current state of the economy but warns against allowing miscreants to hijack the protest and destroy the community's infrastructure. "We have worked hard to develop our community, and I fear that if we are not careful, the protest could be exploited and set us back," he stated.
While not asking the youths to abandon the protest or their desire for change, Oyebanjo urged them to be mindful of the potential consequences of their actions and work towards creating positive change without harming their own community.
The appeal comes as tensions rise ahead of the planned protest, with many youths eager to express their discontent with the government. Oyebanjo emphasized the organization's commitment to the well-being and progress of the community.
The full statement reads:
"I am addressing you today because I care about our community and our future. I understand that we are all frustrated with the current state of our economy, and I agree that the planned nationwide protest is a way to express discontent. However, I wish to appeal to you to approach this situation with wisdom.
Our community, Iperu, is still developing its infrastructure, and we have worked hard to get to where we are. I am worried that if we are not careful, miscreants might take advantage of the protest and start destroying the very infrastructure we have built over the years. This would only set us back and harm our community! I am not asking you to abandon the protest or your desire for change. However, I am urging you to be mindful of the potential consequences of your actions."
