Iperu, Isara and 4 Other communities Advance to Final Stage of Remo Dialect Debate
The journey to the final of the Remo Dialect Debate, a significant part of the ongoing Remo Day 2024 celebrations, has been announced, with six communities advancing after a competitive round.
The debate, organized under the theme “In Unity & Culture, We Thrive,” highlights the importance of preserving Remo’s linguistic and cultural heritage.
The communities that made it to the final include, Ilisan Remo, Isara Remo, Iperu Remo, Ilara Remo, Sonyindo Sagamu and Ijagba Sagamu
The final stage of the competition is scheduled to take place at the Camelot Ballroom, Ilisan Remo, on December 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM. All participants are expected to arrive by 1:00 PM for further instructions.
The event has received significant support and acknowledgment from key stakeholders, including HRM Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi (Torungbuwa II), the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, and the Remo Growth and Development Foundation under the leadership of Otunba Seni Adetu.
Ambassador Dr. Lizzy Jekami, the Project Coordinator, and Prince 'Wunmi W. Okulaja, the Project Secretary, have commended the efforts of all involved, from the panel of judges to the community representatives.
In a statement, the coordinating committee expressed their hopes for the success of the final, noting that the competition has strengthened unity among Remo towns and promoted a deeper appreciation for the region’s cultural heritage.
The Remo Dialect Debate continues to shine as a key feature of Remo Day, symbolizing the collective commitment to unity, development, and cultural pride in Remoland.
