Remo Day 2024 Kicks Off With Dialect Debate

The 2024 Remo Day celebrations commenced with a captivating Remo Dialect Debate held at the Akarigbo Palace Hall on December 10, with the theme “In Unity & Culture, We Thrive.” 

The event anchored by Prince wasiu Okulaja, drew representatives from all 33 towns in Remo, showcasing the linguistic and cultural richness of the region.

Youth participants from towns including Iperu, Ilisan, Soyindo, Isara, Ilara, and Batoro, alongside secondary school students from institutions like Remo Secondary School (RSS), Batoro High School, Ajagbe Community High School, Soyindo Secondary School, and Ode Community Grammar School, engaged in spirited discussions.

The student debate, centered on the topic “Ona ri aṣa ati uṣe ẹni fu ni parun ni ilẹ Remo” (Ways to Preserve and Protect Our Culture in Remo), saw exceptional performances. Students from Ode Community Grammar School clinched the first position, followed by Remo Secondary School in second place and Ajagbe Community Grammar School, Iperu, in third. All participants were rewarded with various gifts.
In the youth category, representatives debated the topic “Anfaani re wá nínú àlàáfíà rem jọba nilẹ Rẹmọ” (Benefits of Peace and Unity Reigning in Remo Land). Results for this category are scheduled to be announced on December 21, during the main Remo Day celebrations.

The event set the tone for a broader celebration of unity and culture across Remo Land, highlighting the importance of preserving traditions while fostering peace and collaboration.
